The Benefits of
Aloe Vera

This medicinal plant has been used for centuries by humans for its many healing properties. The gel from the aloe vera leaf is rich in vitamins, and when applied topically, its anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal benefits can help relieve skin from everything from bug bites to sunburns. But you may be wondering if it can do the same for your dog.

The short answer? Yes. This skin-soothing succulent can provide benefits to your four-legged friend, too. Think insect bite, dry skin and rash relief or bringing a healthy-looking shine to dull skin and coats. Of course, we always recommend consulting a vet before trying anything on your dog. And if you’re using the clear gel-like pulp inside the leaf for its pet skin perks, be sure to educate yourself on which parts of the plant can do more harm than good. Unprocessed and fresh aloe can give your dog diarrhea—and that will just add to their discomfort, not reduce it.
