Naturally-derived ingredients are ingredients that originated from plants.

Sulfates are detergents, or surfactants, commonly found in products like shampoo, body wash, face cleanser, and toothpaste (in addition to household cleaning products, like laundry and dish soap). They are often used to provide foaming or lather and have been found to cause eye and skin irritation. Rowan does not use sulfates in any of our products.

Parabens are a type of preservative used to prolong the shelf life in many health and beauty products by preventing the growth of mold and bacteria within them. They are believed to disrupt hormone function. Rowan does not use parabens in any of our products.

Silicone is a polymer that has been used in hair care products to provide conditioning properties. While silicones might not present a health hazard, they do not biodegrade well and can clog pores. Rowan does not use silicones in any our products.

Talc has been used in powder products across the cosmetics and personal care industry and has been found with asbestos contamination leading to serious health risks. Rowan does not use talc in any of our products.

The toxin that can be present in avocado is called persin and it exists mostly in the skin, pit and leaves, not in the pulp. Our hair wash has avocado oil derived from the pulp and is not harmful to dogs but actually helps condition the coat and replenish moisture in the skin. Many dog foods actually include small amounts of avocado oil (from the pulp) due to the benefits derived from the oil.
